DAYDREAMING | ART PRINT
DAYDREAMING | ART PRINT
Who doesn't enjoy a relaxing bath with a glass of wine? Reflect, daydream and enjoy the stillness, however that may look like for you. Give this art print to someone who needs reminding that rest and relaxation is absolutely a gift to the mind and body. It is a radical act of self-love as we continue to awaken our consciousness to such acts of kindness.
With that said, I wanted to illustrate Black People resting, relaxing and just doing normal things. The lack of representation to be presented "normal", is practically non-existent. This series will show Black People doing mundane things i.e. reading, relaxing, daydreaming, sleeping, etc. No jocks, No singers, no rappers, no dancers, no politics, no jokes...just rest.
This is a series inspired by the compassionate writer, activist and a true iconic NAP HERO, Tricia Hersey, Founder of The Nap Ministry. I took her messages + my own journey, experiences and feelings and mixed them into a visual love letter to myself and to others. I hope you get inspired to rest and nap.
"Our worth does not reside in how much we produce, especially not for a system that exploits and dehumanizes us. Rest, in its simplest form, becomes an act of resistance and a reclaiming of power because it asserts our most basic humanity. We are enough. The systems cannot have us." -Tricia Hersey
